China and Viticulture: Pfälzer Winzer in China

Following our test in MS 3 on our depth study on China, we took to the hills to meet an expert on Chinese viticulture within our very own ISN family, Mr. Wolfgang Pfaffmann.  There we had an open back and forth class discussion where we further connected what we were able to learn about China in our unit to the experiences of our expert who has been travelling to China over the past decade to visit with Chinese viticulturalists.

Wolfgang shares some images of his experience in China, including Chinese viticulture.

3 of our LPs (Max, Dionne & Paul) researched different themes relate.  The rest of MS 3 is now reading over there research, breaking down the main ideas and providing commentary on their work.

PTA meeting at the Vineyard

ISN's last PTA meeting took place at the ISN Vineyard where parents were given the full tour and run down on the sorts of activities ISN has been up to at our little piece of the Sonnenweg.  Then the PTA's agenda was covered with a little help from some good food fresh off the grill!

Thank you!

The ISN learning family would like to heartily thank Mrs. Brigitte Biffar for her donation of a lawnmower to the ISN Vineyard Project!

Julius Pfaffmann is the first to utilize the lawn mower and to usher us into the industrial age.
Thank you very much for your hard work!

We do more than just talk about the weather...

... we also strive to understand how it works.

MS 2 took advantage of the sunny weather to have class outdoors at the vineyard.  We broke into teams to have a quiz game on the topic of air pressure and later placed our 3-in-1 weather station (including a barometer, thermometer & hygrometer). We also found a handy location for our rain gauge.

These MS 2 LPs have now been tasked to create an clear illustrated break down of how these instruments function to be shown to visiting PY LPs.
